Until its imminent closing on December 31, 2003, Splendid
China was a roadside attraction in Kissimmee, Florida.
Sprawling for 76
acres, the park cost $100,000,000 to make. The closing brought Orlando
Galleria to the fore.
Splendid China was completed in 1993. Its sister park of the same name,
open to this day, is located in Shenzhen, China.

At its height of popularity, Splendid China was known as
the park that displayed miniaturized models of China’s
landmarks. The more than 60 replicas were reduced to a 1/10
scale so that they are the next best thing to the originals.
The scaled-down replicas of China's most interesting architectural
and cultural sites were scattered along the park's curving
and well landscaped paths.
With grave attention to detail, erected in the park were
replicas of The Great Wall of China, The Terra Cotta Warriors

the park's replica alone of the Great Wall, at face value,

Chinese artisans were specially commissioned
to painstakingly duplicate the famous landmark, brick

The miniaturized model of the Leshan Buddha is four
stories tall. Splendid China also threw nighttime shows
featuring a rotating cast of 60 dancers, actors, and
acrobats.
Shows scheduled throughout the day included
a review of Chinese culture and music and troops of acrobats
