for the Japanese version, as frontiers and cowboys are
many light years removed from Japanese pop.
The area

Westerland Attractions
Without question, the biggest crowd-drawer for this Western-themed
land is Big Thunder Mountain. Big Thunder Mountain debuted
in Tokyo Disneyland on July 4, 1987.
Big Thunder Mountain holds an originally conceived type of
roller coaster ride. In all, the ride simulates a runaway
train loose in a stunning Southwestern landscape.
The Old West scenery is reminiscent of the wind-forsaken
Monument Valley in Arizona. Bolstering the authentic feel
of the illusory backdrop are caves, grottos, a waterfall,
big horned sheep, a spiral butte, dinosaur bones and sulfur

At over-the-top speeds, converted ore cars turns and dips
through a desolate terrain filled with bat-filled caves, avalanches,
geysers spouting water and steam, floods and an old abandoned

Mark Twain Riverboat
Paying tribute to Mark Twain, Westernland is the site
of navigation for a paddlewheel-propelled riverboat not
unlike the type that used to be a common sight on the
Mississippi River 100 years ago.
